Basilicas of Agios Stefanos, in Kos, Greece

We are going to visit the amazing ruins of the basilicas of Agios Stefanos (Saint Stephen, in English) and its amazing blue flag beach.

These old christian churches are considered to be the most grandiose and the best preserved, of the basilicas found in Kos.
They were built around 469CE and 554CE, recorded dates of the largest earthquakes registered in the island and they were destroyed by the last of these earthquakes.
They were constructed over a base of stone, with locally sourced, reddish limestone, with white marble columns and ionic capitals.
