Kabeirion of Thebes

In this video, we explore Kabeirion of Thebes, a fertility sanctuary and a rather unknown archaeological site.

The sanctuary of the Kabeiroi is located 8 km west of Thebes.

It was dedicated to two deities, Kabeiros and Pais, both of unknown origin, to whom Demeter revealed mysteries with the aim of reinforcing the fertility of nature, animals and humans.

The Kabeiroi were worshipped as protectors of vineyards and animal fertility; associated with them are 1400 representations of bulls found at the site.
