In this video, we explore the different walls that the city of Athens, Greece, has had throughout history and many of its remains, mostly hidden in abandoned buildings and grounds, such as the wall of Themistocles, the wall of Valerius, the wall of Diateichisma, the wall of Proteichisma, the wall of Rizokastro, the wall of Hipapantis and the wall of Serpentza.
The Philopappos Park is in the minds of tourists and Athenians a great place to admire the Parthenon, the Agora and the rest of Athens. However, the 3 hills that make it up, beyond the excellent views, are very full of interesting sites, such as caves, sanctuaries, walls, monuments, tombs, cisterns and many many ruins, if you know exactly where to look.
In this video, we are going to explore many of these remains, in addition to telling details of the history of Athens and of Greece.
In recent years, the trend of painting large murals as a way to beautify cities has become popular, and Athens has embraced this trend wholeheartedly.
Many tourists enjoy this open-air gallery; however, no organization had yet created a map documenting the locations of these works, which is what we have done.
This map includes murals by renowned Greek artists, as well as international artists such as INO, Soteur, Same84, Nikolaos Tsounakas, Aristeidis Lappas, Leonidas Giannakopulos, Robert Vargas, Alex Martinez, Billy Gee, Tristan Eaton, STMTS, Ruin, Cacao Rocks, Taxis, Paparazzi Art Studio, Mister Achilles, Eleni Psyllaki, Kes, Dreyk the Pirate, BirdCap, Kyle Holbrook, MiteArt, Chionis George, Platon, The krah, 101 Crew, Sotiris Fen, Koustenas, Lalas, Frank25, Barbadee, Onebran, Aleks, and more.

It seems that Athens has many ruins, more than the common Athenian knows. Many are found underground, in the basement of some building; others hidden behind fences while others are lost in industrial areas.
What they have in common all these ruins is that they are rather small or in poor condition of conservation.
Rare is the case that a huge structure like a wall is unknown and preserved in excellent condition.
In our adventure of the day we are going to visit the Dema wall, tell a little about its history and understand how it can be so unknown.
We last year explored the metro network looking for the different museums and archaeological sites that were within, on top of, or near the different stations.
Now well, by lack of knowledge, we did not include 3 stations, one of them with the oldest ruins of the entire network.
So, in our adventure of the day we are going to explore these sites in detail, as well as show the surroundings and tell a little about their history.
The Acropolis of Athens is the most popular archaeological site in Greece, visited by thousands of people every day.
Although its most recognized monument is the Parthenon, there is a much more important detail about this hill that is unknown to most people.
In this video, we explore the multiple monuments, as well as tell the true reason for their importance and a couple of anecdotes that changed the course of history.
We visited the sanctuary of Eleusis in detail, including its renovated archaeological museum, as well as the other ruins in the city, including the sacred path.
On our adventure for the day, we explore destinations in the vicinity of Athens that are only accessible by car.
We have beaches, ruins, fortresses and even a royal palace. These sites are: Seal Cave, Heraeus of Peracora, Lake Vouliagmeni, Sousaki Volcano, Fili Fortress, Eleuteras Fortress, Porto Germeno, Aliki, Amphiareus, Ramnous, Lavrio Mines, Salamis and Tatoi.
